We’re not kidding.

As the late night comedians often say, “You can’t make this stuff up”.

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum recently accused Barack Obama of being a “snob” for asking Americans to commit to at least a one year internship, a year of  college, or a year of vocational education.   One can only guess what Mr. Santorum would have accused Mr. Obama of if the President had touted the value of an undergraduate or (God forbid!) graduate degree.

It has been clearly established that post-secondary education brings increased  job security and earnings.

College graduates make nearly double what high school graduates do, and those with doctoral degrees average nearly $90,000 annually.  And, those without college degrees are twice as likely to be unemployed.

More important is the fact that an educated populace is more likely to find solutions to our pressing problems and ongoing challenges.  In theory, they should also be better informed voters.

Perhaps that is why Mr. Santorum appears to be so anti-education.
